The Sex Trial of R. Kelly

The Sex Trial of R. Kelly

I have ignored the news coverage of R Kelly’s child pornography trial for personal reasons, but since I believe that Robert is no longer "Trapped in the Closet", I have decided to blog it for the information of millions of others outside the US who do not have access to the cable or public TV reports.

What Do You Know About Sex and the City?

The Premiere of Sex and the City

New Line Cinema waited for the end of Cannes before having the premiere of Sex and the City and as usual I have the latest coverage of the big event for you.

In light of the opening of the new "Sex And The City" movie in theaters, Katie Couric notes that this highly anticipated release marks an occasion to celebrate friendships.

I, Clone

I am basking in the euphoria of my latest short story, Leave Her Alone! I intend to produce as a 20 minutes short film, because of the depth of the universal experience. As I was doing more research on the content, I found the latest news in robotics I have to share with as many people as possible.

Please, read the following and read the rest on the Cloning Magazine. It will open your eyes to the future of humankind before the Great Rapture.

I am making this post in honour of Prof. Bart Nnaji.

In robots, the sensors lying under the artificial skin report the information they collect through wires connected to a computer, which, in turn, allow the human working with the robot to select the appropriate responses. The challenge research teams face in the development of artificial limbs for humans, rather than for robots, is to be able to get the data from the sensors to the wearer's brain so that it can directly respond to the stimulation just as if the body part were real.

Currently, prostheses are manipulated through a cooperative effort between muscles and mechanics. In an artificial hand, for instance, the user tenses the shoulder or remaining arm muscles that are attached to sensors; these sensors, in turn, send an electronic signal to the mechanics of the artificial hand, telling it to open or close. Technology is working to smooth this process and make it faster by linking to nerves instead of muscles.

The Best Children's Hospitals in America, 2008 Rankings

30 May 2008 05:01 Africa/Lagos

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Ranks Number One in U.S. News & World Report's 2008 Edition of America's Best Children's Hospitals

PHILADELPHIA, May 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has been ranked number one in U.S. News & World Report's 2008 edition of America's Best Children's Hospitals, published online at www.usnews.com/pediatrics and in the magazine's June 9 issue, on newsstands Monday, June 2. This is the sixth consecutive time that CHOP has been ranked the number one pediatric hospital in the nation.

In a further extension of the 2007 pediatric rankings that listed the top 30 pediatric centers overall, the 2008 America's Best Children's Hospitals now includes the 30 top-ranked hospitals in cancer, digestive disorders, heart and heart surgery, neonatal care, neurology and neurosurgery, respiratory disorders, and general pediatrics. CHOP ranked number one in cancer, neonatal care, and respiratory disorders, second in heart and heart surgery and digestive disorders, and third in neurology and neurosurgery.

"While we are honored by this ranking, we understand there is still much more to do to constantly improve the ideal patient experience for patients, families, and employees. We are humbled by the ranking and recommit ourselves daily to every child affected by our work," said Steven M. Altschuler, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

"Very sick kids need very special care," said Senior Writer Avery Comarow, who has been editor of the America's Best Hospitals and America's Best Children's Hospitals annual rankings since their inception. "The best places for them are pediatric facilities with a deep pool of expertise in their particular illness. Breaking out key specialties is crucial to help parents and other caregivers find these facilities."

The specialty rankings of this year's America's Best Children's Hospitals were based on a new and improved methodology that weighed a three-part blend of reputation, outcome, and care-related measures such as nursing care, advanced technology, credentialing, and other factors. A detailed description of the methodology can be found online at www.usnews.com/pediatrics.

Ranking-eligible facilities were largely drawn from members of the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI) in either of two categories -- a freestanding children's hospital or a children's "hospital within a hospital" (a large, multidisciplinary pediatric service within a medical center). In addition, several non-NACHRI members were added because of known expertise or at the recommendation of experts. Of the 143 children's hospitals invited to complete a survey asking for information as detailed as whether a center offers postgraduate fellowships in pediatric cardiology, 113 responded. The survey was constructed by RTI International, which collects the data and oversees the methodology behind the adult Best Hospitals rankings.

About The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia: The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was founded in 1855 as the nation's first pediatric hospital. Through its long-standing commitment to providing exceptional patient care, training new generations of pediatric healthcare professionals and pioneering major research initiatives, Children's Hospital has fostered many discoveries that have benefited children worldwide. Its pediatric research program is among the largest in the country, ranking third in National Institutes of Health funding. In addition, its unique family-centered care and public service programs have brought the 430-bed hospital recognition as a leading advocate for children and adolescents. Hair Loss Is on the Rise, and Women Are Among the Hardest Hit

Hair Loss Is on the Rise, and Women Are Among the Hardest Hit

Stress, hormone imbalances to blame for a condition many women suffer through in silence

COSTA MESA, Calif., May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Every day, women worldwide look in the mirror, and where they used to see healthy hair, they now see an increasing proportion of scalp. Agonizing over their hair loss, they try to hide it with make-up, creative hairstyles, or sometimes even hair extensions, which can actually further damage already stressed-out hair.

Ironically, stress itself is the main reason why many women are facing hair loss and what appears to be early balding, according to Erkkie Harris-Wells, a trichologist and founder of the Costa-Mesa, Calif.-based Miyohara International Trichology Clinic (http://www.miyoharainternational.com/). As someone who diagnoses and treats hair and scalp disorders, Harris-Wells has a bird's-eye view of this medical trend -- and is no longer surprised to see the physical indicators of stress when viewing hair samples through a microscope.

"The number of women suffering from hair loss is definitely on the rise," Harris-Wells says. "Even more disturbing is that nearly 80 percent of the time, women's hair samples show symptoms of thyroid diseases or hormone imbalances, which are serious manifestations of stress-related disorders."

Unlike a blood test, which only provides results based on what the body is experiencing at the moment of the blood draw, trichology's cutting-edge, microscopic diagnosis reveals up to six months' worth of a person's physical history. The testing also shows that stress doesn't discriminate -- it's present in the hair of women young and old, but particularly those leading demanding careers or lifestyles, Harris-Wells says.

"Here in California, I'm diagnosing teenage girls, working mothers and menopausal women," Harris-Wells says. "There are even celebrities and models battling hair loss, too. Women everywhere are stressed. Their bodies are under attack, and so their hair is falling out or bald spots are appearing. Sadly, they're struggling secretly with this hair loss, trying to solve the problem on their own."

Miyohara International Trichology Clinic offers hope for most hair loss sufferers. This solution starts in educating women on the cause behind their hair loss. Miyohara also provides the best preventative products, and offers referrals to the appropriate doctors who can treat the underlying causes, be they physical, emotional or both.

About Miyohara International Trichology Clinic

Based in Costa Mesa, Calif., Miyohara International Trichology Clinic sets itself apart from other hair-replacement clinics by identifying each client's form or type of hair loss, expelling the guesswork and ensuring the success rate of any scalp or hair-loss disorder. Through trichology, hair samples are microscopically examined, and a program is custom-designed around the diagnosis to prevent further hair loss and restore it to health. Most Miyohara patients experience over 90 percent success rate without using products such as Rogaine, which can have serious side effects and is effective in only 35 percent of hair loss cases. Instead, the clinic uses the most advanced products available to treat hair loss appropriately.

New Line Cinema's Sex and the City: the Movie Toasts with Chimney Rock Elegant Wine the Latest Must-Have Indulgence

NEW YORK, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- They've shown us what shoes to purchase, what dresses to hang in our closets and what bags to sling over our shoulders, and now we know what to stock in the cellar: Chimney Rock Elevage Blanc, a luxury classic white Bordeaux blend that is featured in the movie and was the exclusive wine brand served at the Premiere party at MOMA (The Museum of Modern Art). When it came time to toast the debut, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon had Chimney Rock within reach, the latest must-have indulgence for the Sex and the City set.

(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080528/AQW061)

Chimney Rock's winemaker Elizabeth Vianna, smart, successful and a great fan of the series and the movie, hails from New York, but as of late, has come to call the serene setting of Napa Valley home. "Carrie's musings remind us that the magical thing about old New York friendships is they are deeply rooted. It is such an honor to have our wines present in my dear friend's fabulous movie. A great pairing, no doubt."

"It is my favorite wine and she (Elizabeth) is my favorite person," said John Melfi, producer of the film. "It is the perfect blend."

With the skill and patience of an haute couture designer, Vianna fashions some of Napa's most luxurious wines -- bringing to life the exquisite flavors grown in the vineyard. "I'm passionate about quality and crafting elegant balanced wines from our estate vineyards in Stags Leap."

A dazzling landmark along Napa's famed Silverado Trail, Chimney Rock's architecture and grounds are enough to sweep even the most jaded New Yorker off her Manolo Blahniks.

The winery was founded in 1980 to produce Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux blends from estate vineyards in the southern end of the Stags Leap District. In 2000 the Terlato family became partners in Chimney Rock and assumed full ownership in 2004. Today there are 119 acres of vines planted on the 137 acre estate.

Chimney Rock produces three signature red wines from estate-grown fruit: Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and Elevage, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The winery also produces a small amount of white wine called Elevage Blanc. This unique proprietary blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris was launched to rave reviews in 2004.

Terlato Wines International has a global portfolio of more than 40 brands from a host of world-class wine producers and presently markets more than one out of eight bottles of wine over $14 sold in America. Terlato, with more 90+ ratings than any wine company in the world, is the flagship company of the Terlato Wine Group, the parent company of several independent businesses specializing in the marketing and production of exceptional wines. Owned and operated by the Terlato family, the Group also includes the family's winery investments and partnerships in some of the world's most esteemed wine regions, including: Napa Valley; Sonoma County; Santa Barbara County; Victoria, Australia; France's Rhone Valley; and Somontano in Spain.

The Terlato Wines International portfolio of brands includes: Napa Valley: Brandlin, Chimney Rock, Cuvaison Estate Wines, Markham Vineyards, Rutherford Hill, Tangley Oaks and Terlato Family Vineyards; Sonoma County: Alderbrook, Hanna, Rochioli and Terlato Family Vineyards; Santa Barbara County: Sanford and Tangley Oaks; California Appellation: Glass Mountain and Seven Daughters; Oregon: Argyle and Sokol Blosser; Italy: Baglio di Pianetto, Ca' del Bosco, Ca' Marcanda (Gaja Toscana), Florio Martinez Marsala, Gaja, Il Poggione, Kettmeir, Santa Margherita, Tiramisu, Torresella and Distillatori Nonino (Grappa); France: Champagne Bollinger, M. Chapoutier, Chateau des Laurets (Rothschild), Domaine Chanson, Domaine Louis Moreau, Josmeyer and Langlois-Chateau; Australia: Branson Coach House, Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier, Domaine Tournon and Two Hands; Argentina: Tamari; Canada: Peller Estates Icewine; Greece: Boutari; New Zealand: Wairau River; South Africa: Cirrus, Guardian Peak, Engelbrecht-Els, Ernie Els Signature and Rust En Vrede; Spain: Olvena; Switzerland: Xellent. Mobile Phones Could Kill Far More People Than Smoking or Asbestos

28 May 2008 13:15 Africa/Lagos

Mobile Phones: More Dangerous Than Smoking

Award winning Neurosurgeon warns of huge rise in tumors from cell phones and calls on industry to take immediate steps to reduce radiation

SAN FRANCISCO, May 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mobile phones could kill far more people than smoking or asbestos, according to a study by a neurosurgeon and award-winning cancer expert, and distributed by Awen Grove. (www.mybiopro.com/awengrove).

The study, by Dr. Vini Khurana, is the most devastating indictment yet published of the health risks.

Dr. Khurana warns that people should avoid using cell phones wherever possible and that governments and the mobile phone industry must take "immediate steps" to reduce exposure to their radiation.

"It is anticipated that this danger has far broader public health ramifications than asbestos and smoking," says Professor Khurana. He believes that the three billion people in the world that now use the phones worldwide are at risk and that their death and illness from cell phone use could exceed the harm from smoking.

The groundbreaking study draws on growing evidence that use for 10 years or more can double the risk of brain cancer. (To learn more go to www.mybiopro.com/awengrove)

Cancers take at least a decade to develop, invalidating official safety assurances based on earlier studies which included few, if any, people who had used the phones for that long.

Earlier this year, the French government followed Great Britain in warning against the use of mobile phones, especially by children. Germany also advises its people to minimize handset use, and the European Environment Agency has called for exposures to be reduced.

Professor Khurana is a neurosurgeon who has received 14 awards over the past 16 years. He has published more than three dozen scientific papers and reviewed more than 100 studies on the effects of mobile phones. He has put the results on a brain surgery website, and a paper based on the research is currently being peer-reviewed for publication in a scientific journal.

Noting that malignant brain tumors represent "a life-ending diagnosis," he adds: "We are currently experiencing a reactively unchecked and dangerous situation." He fears that "unless the industry and governments take immediate and decisive steps," the incidence of malignant brain tumors and associated death rate will be observed to rise globally within a decade from now, by which time it may be far too late to intervene medically.

Fortunately, while formerly little public awareness about the safety of cell phones existed, thanks to shows like Larry King Live which aired the program Are Cell Phones Dangerous? and others, more people are now taking cautions.

What you can do in order of greatest protection:

-- Not use a cell phone
-- Not carry a cell phone on or near your body when not in use.
-- Use air tube headsets not wire headsets with your phones (which
conduct greater radiation to the head).
-- Purchase a BIOPRO cell chip and place it on the cell phone to reduce
response to the radiation from the phone. (go to
www.mybiopro.com/awengrove to learn more and/or purchase a cell phone
chip.

What Amy Winehouse Needs Most

Amy Winehouse recently dismissed one of her assistants and alleged lover Alex Haines, because he was caught taking illegal drugs. Good decision, but leadership is best by example. So, would Amy sack herself for her drug addiction?

The results reflect an interesting shift in behavior from the HBO show's premiere on June 6, 1998 and the U.S. Sex and the City: The Movie premiere on May 30, 2008.

Some surprising survey results include:

Singles' true soulmates

-- 39 percent of women said they already had or would end up with one (or
several) women friends as their "soulmate" in life instead of a man.
-- 59 percent say that Sex and the City reminded them how much they rely
on their friends for dating advice and perspective. Women were more
likely than men to say this.

If the shoe fits ... buy it

-- 30 percent of women said their shoe purchases were influenced by Sex
and the City

Outlook on love

-- 80 percent believe Sex and the City made it more acceptable for women
to have fun dating and worry less about finding a committed
relationship. Women were more likely than men to believe this.
-- 52 percent say Sex and the City influenced their dating life.
12 percent said it was a negative influence (men were more likely than
women to say the influence was negative) and 40 percent said it was a
positive influence (women were more likely than men to say the
influence was positive). 55 percent of single women said the show
influenced them to "date like men."
-- 43 percent believe Sex and the City made it more acceptable for women
to be unfaithful in their romantic relationships. Men were more likely
than women to believe this.
-- 51 percent agree with this statement made by Sex and the City
character, Samantha Jones: "Who we are in bed is who we are in life.
I've never met a man who was bad in bed who was good at life." Men were
more likely than women to agree with this statement.
-- 36 percent said they borrowed ideas from Sex and the City and used them
in their dating life. Women were more likely than men to say this.
-- 50 percent of respondents believe that women who are big Sex and the
City fans are more likely to have sex on a first date. Men were more
likely than women to believe this.

"Sex and the City, along with the introduction of dating reality shows like ABC's The Bachelor, socialize dating," said Trish McDermott, Vice President of Love at Engage. "Suddenly, everyone was talking about the dating choices others make -- like breaking up via Post-It note -- and learning vicariously through them. Women especially came to realize the value, insight and perspective their women friends added to the daily challenges of dating. This highly collaborative and thoroughly entertaining dating culture-shift inspired the social dating experience at Engage. Singles in the Engage dating community have fun with their friends as they check out, gossip about, vote for, meet and then debrief about other Engage singles, much as the Sex and the City girls have done over all these years."

Engage research indicates that the Sex and the City style of group input on dating is vital to building relationships, as half of all marriages in the United States are likely to be the result of an introduction made by a friend, co-worker or family member. Friends use Engage's Play Matchmaker(TM) features to make introductions between their friends and other eligible singles, whether in the Engage community or in their address book.

Happy Children's Day in Nigeria

In memory of the children of Ijegun Comprehensive High School, Ijegun Nursery and Primary Schools who lost their precious lives in the Pipeline Explosion on Thursday May 15, 2008, in Ijegun, Lagos, Nigeria.

This is for all the children in Nigeria as I join them to celebrate the Children’s Day.

The nostalgia of my childhood is overwhelming, because the unforgettable memories of growing up in the loving care of my parents are now flooding back to me.
I love my childhood. I had a happy childhood after the Nigerian civil war. I grew up in a happy home at #28 Obalende Road, Obalende, Lagos.
I love children, because as Whitney Houston sang in The Greatest Love of All, they are indeed our future.

85% of the children in Nigeria are from poor families who are mostly in the rural areas. When I travel to different states in Nigeria and I see the children in their dilapidated houses and bad roads, I feel sad and disappointed, because Nigeria is one of the richest countries in natural resources and Nigerians should be among the most comfortable people in the world. But the corrupt and ruthless public officials have wrecked the administration of our beloved nation and left the majority of the people miserable.

Parents must do their best for the health, success and welfare of their children.
If you do not have the wherewithal to raise children, please do not conceive and bring innocent children into the world only to let them suffer in abject poverty.

I have seen better parenting among sheep and goats than I have seen among many parents in Nigeria.
I have seen Nigerian parents who have children, but do not know how to raise them
.

Every child deserves good education. Photo Credit:Khaled Hassounah

The only way to secure the future of Nigeria is to make sure that Nigerian children have the most important things in life; regular food supply (including safe water) safe and comfortable accommodation, universal basic education, universal healthcare and security at home and outdoors.

Khaled Hassounah, the director of Nicholas Negroponte’s One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project has toured Nigeria and knows that education is the key that will open doors to breathroughs for the children of the poor in Nigeria and other poor countries in the world.

Let me remind you of what the beautiful and wonderful teacher, Yvonne Terry has written on Our Children Are Our Future, you can read it on ChickenBones.

Let us join Whitney Houston in singing the all time classic The Greatest Love of All to all the Children in Nigeria and the rest of the world.

I believe the children are our are future

Teach them well and let them lead the way

Show them all the beauty they possess inside

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Everybody searching for a hero

People need someone to look up to

I never found anyone who fulfill my needs

A lonely place to be

So I learned to depend on me

Chorus:

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows

If I fail, if I succeed

At least I'll live as I believe

No matter what they take from me

They can't take away my dignity

Because the greatest love of all

Is happening to me

I found the greatest love of all

Inside of me

The greatest love of all

Is easy to achieve

Learning to love yourself

It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future

Teach them well and let them lead the way

Show them all the beauty they possess inside

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Chorus:

And if by chance, that special place

That you've been dreaming of

Leads you to a lonely place

Find your strength in love.

Whitney Houston's The Greatest Love of All was written by Michael Masser and Linda Creed, and was first perfromed and recorded by George Benson for the 1977 Muhammad Ali film The Greatest..

Love Always, Petra

Petra Němcová

On December 26, 2004, Petra Němcová was injured in Thailand by a tsunami resulting from the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake; her then-fiancé, Simon Atlee, was missing and his body was found three months later. This is the true life story of a young woman who survived a catastrophe and overcame the trauma of her great loss. She has continued her successful modeling career and also set up a charity to help children who are facing challenges in life. Petra Němcová is not only a survivor, but a conqueror and a victor who is an inspiration to the rest of us.

Love Always, Petra
Prologue
December 26, 2004
Khao Lak, Thailand
10:30 a.m.

Pain.
It brought me back to consciousness, a sharp, agonizing, throbbing pain racking my body, my legs.

My legs.
I opened my eyes and looked down. Black filthy water covered the lower half of my body. I couldn't even see my legs. My arms, bare, scratched, bleeding and aching, were wrapped around a palm tree. I was holding on, leaning against the trunk. Black, oil-slicked, muddied water choked with debris was everywhere. I looked up. The sky was blue, clear, untroubled, the sun was shining. Where was I? Where was Simon? What had happened?

I remembered.
Simon and I were in the bungalow when a rush of water rose up so suddenly there was not even a second to think, a rush of water that came from all directions, hurtling us out into the furious current. For one split second, before the water separated us, I saw Simon's face.
"Petra!" he screamed. "Petra! What's happening?"
I couldn't answer. I didn't know. Then I lost sight of him. Seconds later, I saw him again, whirling in the tumbling waters. He was a few yards ahead of me. Behind him a rooftop was sticking out of the water.
"Catch the roof! Catch the roof!" I shouted. Then he was gone. I don't know whether he heard me or not. I prayed that he would catch hold. I was sure he would. He was a strong swimmer; he had to be okay.

It was impossible to tell in which direction the waters were streaming. I needed to grab onto something or be swept away. I saw another rooftop. I reached out my arms, and sending out every bit of energy I had, I grabbed the edges and held on. Instantly, my legs were sucked underneath, and everything accumulated by the raging water, the wood and metal objects, all the trash, began slamming against my hips and legs. I hung on, screaming with pain and fear. I would be crushed into nothing. For the first time, I thought of dying.

Miraculously, the pressure of the water began to lessen. I pulled myself up onto the roof. My clothes had been torn from my body. I was naked. Then, as quickly as the first, another tremendous wave rose up and poured over the rooftop. I lost my grip and was drawn down beneath the water. Frantically, I flailed my arms, trying to get out from under the thick layer of filth between me and the surface. Desperately, I fought to get some air until I had no breath left. I stopped fighting, stopped struggling, and began swallowing the inky water. A great feeling of peacefulness came over me. I surrendered to the calmness. Whatever was meant to be, whatever God will decide, it's okay.

At that moment, without any effort on my part, I was thrust through the barrier of debris to the surface. I threw my head back and gasped for air. Above me was the blue, blue sky. I was never so happy in my life to see the sky.
I don't remember ever being happier. I was in Thailand, a country I loved, with my love, Simon Atlee. Simon was a photographer, and we'd been a couple for eighteen months. We were going to spend our second Christmas and New Year's together in a very special way. Usually, Simon booked our holidays, but this time I did everything. That is, I made all the arrangements through a travel agent in Los Angeles. She was Thai and took particular interest in helping me create the perfect vacation. This was my fifth visit to Thailand and Simon's first; I wanted him to experience with me the lush green of the land, the smells, the sunshine, the ocean, the food exploding with taste in your mouth, the culture, and most important, the people. The Thais are the kindest people I ever met, and it comes from inside -- it's not learned, it's natural. They put their hands together and bow their heads to greet you, taking the moment to show respect in such a gentle way. The gracefulness and peacefulness are addictive, and this land is in my heart. It had been nearly three years since my last visit, but the minute we arrived, I knew I was "home."
At Bangkok International Airport, we changed planes and flew on to the first of our three stops, Chiang Mai. This was my first visit to this city, so Simon and I were seeing things through the same eyes. We went on different tours, including guided visits to nearby Buddhist temples. One tour guide explained that, in the past, there had been a war between the Burmese and the Thais. Bad things happened, but the good thing was, the Burmese brought Buddhism to Thailand. I am inspired by the gentle teachings of the Buddha, so this was especially interesting to me.

We went to see a giant, seated Buddha on a nearby mountaintop. It wasn't a very touristy place; in fact, Simon and I were the only visitors. As is customary in many sacred places, we took off our shoes and went inside on our knees to pay our respects. We lit a candle and incense and placed flowers before the golden statue. Off to the side, two young monks wearing saffron robes were seated at a table with a checkerboard on top. The monks were playing checkers with flower petals and broken matches for the game pieces. Simon wanted to take a picture, but the minute he took out his camera, the monks put everything away and ran off. Obviously, they didn't want to get caught playing games.

We went to see the Long Neck Ladies, tall, thin, and elegant women who wear golden rings around their necks. These rings are a sign of beauty. They are put on starting when the women are little girls, and in time their necks stretch up many inches. I think they are a tribe from Burma.

Simon took lots of pictures, especially of one adorable little girl. She kept smiling and repeated every word Simon said.
"Hello."
"Hello."
"Can I take a picture?"
"Can I take a picture?"
"Thank you."
"Thank you."
Simon giggled like a schoolboy.

We went to the umbrella factories and the silk factories and bought presents. We went to see the amazing elephant shows. The elephants play football with their feet, play harmonicas with their trunks, and most incredible of all, they paint pictures on large pieces of paper. The keepers put brushes in their trunks, and the elephants paint with such a concentration -- not all over the place, but very precise. The keepers change the colors, and the elephants make flowers and trees. It is unbelievable, and even more unbelievable, the paper is made from elephant dung. Simon bought two of these specially prepared paintings for his niece and nephew. We fed bananas to the elephants and played with the cute little babies with the spiky hairs on their heads. Of course, we took an elephant ride through the jungle.
