Merry Christmas And Happy New Year To You!

I have been around since I returned from a working visit to Lagos on December 11. But I have not been able to reach my blogs and other blogs on blogspot until an hour ago through the help of pkblogs.

I turned my attention to my forums and you can join the new one Nigerian Times International Forum now before it becomes mandatory to pay membership fees.

I missed visiting all my favourite bloggers on blogspot. Especially my beautiful and wonderful Aussie Sweetheart Keshi who has been my most devoted muse since we met in the blogosphere earlier this year.

May I wish you visiting me and your family the very best of the holiday season.
May your homes be filled with joy and the new year be filled with happiness and prosperity for you and your business.

Each new year brings new challenges and experiences that grow and shape our lives. When we look back on 2006, we see not only that which we have overcome, but those who have helped us overcome it. This is the season to appreciate and give well wishes to those in our lives who make a difference for us each and everyday; our sweethearts, families, friends, online buddies and everyone else.
For this reason, I hope that your holiday season is filled with joy and happiness for you and everyone you hold dear.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Cheers and God bless you always.

With my sweet cherry kisses and sweet fresh roses,
Orikinla Osinachi.

True Tales...They Walk Among Us!

True tales......

Some guy bought a new fridge for his house. To get rid of his old fridge, he put it in his front yard and hung a sign on it saying: "Free to go home. You want it, you take it." For three days the fridge sat there without even one person looking twice at it. He eventually decided that people were too un-trusting of this deal. It looked too good to be true, so he changed the sign to read: "Fridge for sale 50." The next day someone stole it.

Whilst looking at a house, my brother asked the real estate agent which direction was north because, he explained, he didn't want the sun waking him up every morning. She asked, "Does the sun rise in the north?"

When my brother explained that the sun rises in the east, and has for sometime, she shook her head and said, "Oh, I don't keep up with that stuff."
They Walk Among Us!!

I used to work in technical support for a 24/7 call center. One day I got a call from an individual who asked what hours the call center was open.

I told him, "The number you dialed is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."
He responded, "Is that Eastern or Pacific time?" Wanting to end the call quickly, I said, "Uh, Pacific" .
They Walk Among Us!!!

My colleague and I were eating our lunch in our cafeteria, when we overheard one of the staff talking about the sunburn she got on her weekend drive to the shore. She drove down in a convertible, but "didn't think she'd get sunburned because the car was moving".

My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car it's designed to cut through a seat belt if she gets trapped. She keeps it in the trunk...They Walk Among Us!!!!!

My friends and I were on a beer run and noticed that the cases were discounted 10%. Since it was a big party, we bought 2 cases. The cashier multiplied 2 times 10% and gave us a 20% discount....
They Walk Among Us!!!!!!

I was hanging out with a friend when we saw a woman with a nose ring attached to an earring by a chain. My friend said, "Wouldn't the chain rip out every time she turned her head?" I explained that a person's nose and ear remain the same distance apart no matter which way the head is turned...
They Walk Among Us!!!!!!!

I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area. So I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up.
She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a trained professional and I was in good hands. "Now," she asked me, "has your plane arrived yet?"...
They Walk Among Us!!!!!!!!
====================

While working at a pizza parlor I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go. He appeared to be alone and the cook asked him if he would like it cut into 4 pieces or 6. He thought about it for some time before responding.
"Just cut it into 4 pieces; I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat 6 pieces.
Yep, They Walk Among Us, too.!!!!!!!!

They walk among us, AND they reproduce!

White African Wildflower

I have been wandering beyond the kraal
Wandering on like an innocent child
Wandering beyond the woods in the wild
Wandering to the kopje of Transvaal.

Wandering to the land of the birds of Paradise
Wandering to the valley of the sunrise
Wandering to the fountain of the bubbling spring
To join the chorus of the fairies as they sing.

There I saw the white flower among the lilies
Among the lilies beyond King Solomon’s mines
The enchanted white flower of dawn
Blooming in the bright light of the African sun.

Genevieve Nnaji: The Queen of Nollywood

Genevieve Nnaji in her own words!

Genevieve Nnaji On The Cover of Mimi.

I must say that life has been very dramatic. It has been quite eventful. It also has its ups and downs. But above all, I thank God for whatever I have been able to achieve over the years. For me, it has been quite fulfilling being a popular actress. The fact that I am able to do what I want to do which is acting. It is fulfilling for me. The fact that people do appreciate what I have been doing, my work, and my personality, that is fulfilling on its own. But in terms of the downs, yes!

As a celebrity and a popular actress, people tend to misjudge my character as a person and what role I play on screen. I don’t think I have played any role that is exactly my character in real life. But you have to cry or laugh as you used to, in real life to be able to perfect the make-belief notion. You can’t imitate any person in that situation.

But the story lies on how you are able to handle a particular situation in a movie, how you react to certain issues and situations are not necessarily the way you will probably handle such situation in real life. Music is something I have always cherished, even before I started acting. I discovered my talent in music first before I went into acting. . The originality of my song is what inspired my producer to want to approach me for a deal. Even though acting is my vocation and has helped to make a celebrity, and me more responsible it has equally denied me the right to live the way I would have loved to live my life. A lot of people want to associate with you. You cannot live a normal life. You don’t have your privacy again. It appears you are no longer human. I am actually a very rare gem. I like to just react naturally to any situation. I believe, everybody has a right to his or her feelings and freedom to express oneself without interference.

It’s not that I cannot act in Hollywood. But for the fact that I have my root here, my parents are very much alive and my siblings, my cultural background, I don’t think I can take up the challenges in Hollywood. We are not African-Americans; we are purely Africans by birth. My parents are artistic. In terms of music, drumming, and singing, I am the only actress in my family, but there are my other siblings who are into music and other areas of the arts.
Who I'd like to meet:All of my fans. Thank you for the love you give so freely, especially those who have proudly declared themselves members of the Republic - don't laugh it does exist. I try everyday not to disappoint you by being the best I can be. Thanks to those who keep in touch trough emails - Love you back like you will never know.

Pray For Lisa Fox

Dear Praying Friends,
Lisa did not have to be admitted to the hospital the other day. She came home later that evening. As i said then, she was a bit frightened by the siezure, and so far the CT scan indicates that it was not caused by a significant regrowth of the tumor. They don't know what would have caused it then, of course. So please pray for Lisa's peace of mind, and that the doctors could determine and address the problem if possible. And of course, please continue to pray, even now, for a complete eradication of the cancer in Lisa's brain.

The scheduled trip to Texas was cancelled due to the siezure and fear of possible further episodes. Please pray that the Fox's might get to visit family there soon.
Rich has also asked for continued prayer about their financial situation. In particular, there is an important board meeting in Lombard on Monday evening that will decide on issues related to a property variance. If the variance is passed it would mean a significant financial benefit for Rich and the Fox family. If it does not pass then it would affect them quite negatively. Please pray for a positive outcome.

And one last prayer request for the Fox's, their current nanny who helps take care of all five children, will be leaving in January to attend school. Please pray that a new, suitable nanny will be found to replace her.

Under the Mercy,
For Lisa Fox

Estella: Nigerian Designer Walking Tall In America

    Estella

I am an aficionado of modern fashion since I started making sketches for different clothes and showed them to Nikky Africana when she was just managing a small boutique in the 80s and I told her that she would become a celebrated Nigerian fashion designer and the following year she won the Nigerian Fashion Designer of the Year Award. And I moved on to become the features editor of a magazine for school children and met other fashionable icons of the upper class in Nigeria and even became a close friend of one of them, Lady Tanya Hume-Sotomi whose bosom friend Helen Kuku is also a designer of note in Nigeria. Then later, I met Sefinatu Muhammad of the Federal Palace Hotel on the Victoria Island in Lagos, and I did a cover story on Princess Adelaide Ofori-Olagbaju whose Kente Oke was the rave in the late 90s in Nigeria. She was very receptive and appreciated my admiration of her remarkable designs. Later I had a modeling agency department when I was the editor of Affection International magazine in Nigeria and met the new generation of young and dynamic Nigerian fashion designers like Frank Oshodi, Mon Ami, my good friend Bayo of Modela, Dakova and Kese Jabari who is now in America. I have already turned my attention away from Nigerian fashion designers since 2004 until I heard of Estella online when she won the Nigerian Entertainment Award (NEA) for Fashion Designer of the Year in America.

    Urgent Appeal For Darfur

I have just received the following letter of appeal for Darfur from Maureen Byrnes, the Executive Director of Human Rights First and I want to appeal to you reading this post to join us in helping the suffering and dying refugees in Darfur.

I have been active in the global efforts to end the crisis in Darfur where over six Nigerian soldiers with the African Union (AU) Peace Keeping Force have been killled. And this made me to advise my contact in Darfur to leave by all means. He is like a brother to me. So his safety is paramount. He has been sending me eye-witness accounts of the catastrophe in Darfur and I corresponded with Jan Pronk the UN Special Envoy in Sudan. But now Maureen just informed me that Jan Pronk has been expelled by the ruling goverment in Sudan. I have some classified reports and I cannot make them public now.

Please, what you should do is to donate as requested below and not posting lip service and eye service comments.

Please, respond to the following appeal as I have done. More details are provided on Human Rights First.

    Hello,

Today, Jan Pronk, the U.N.'s top official in Sudan, is leaving the Sudan after the government expelled him, saying he was an enemy of the country.

Also today the New York Times' top story reports that the fighting is at its worst in two years, with millions of refugees and displaced people caught in the middle.

Our efforts are needed more than ever. Will you please help us build peace in Darfur?

Simply click here to make an online tax-deductible donation to ensure we can respond to this crisis fully and effectively.

My sincerest thanks for being part of our efforts,

    Maureen Byrnes

Kiran Desai Wins The 2006 Booker Prize In Style

Youngest ever woman wins Man Booker Prize at age of 35

Kiran Desai has won the £50,000 Man Booker Prize for Fiction for her classic novel The Inheritance of Loss published by Hamish Hamilton.

The Indian-born writer has a strong family tie with the prize as her mother Anita Desai has been shortlisted three times since 1980 but has never won. This year, however, her daughter, Kiran, has won the acclaimed literary prize.

Author of the 1998 universally praised Hullabaloo in the Guava Orchard, Desai is the first woman to win the Man Booker since 2000 when Margaret Atwood scooped the prize with The Blind Assassin. Her winning book, The Inheritance of Loss, is a radiant, funny and moving family saga and has been described by reviewers as ‘the best, sweetest, most delightful novel’.

In the north-eastern Himalayas, at the foot of Mount Kanchenjunga, in an isolated and crumbling house, there lives an embittered old judge, who wants nothing more than to retire in peace. But with the arrival of his orphaned granddaughter, Sai, and the son of his chatty cook trying to stay a step ahead of US immigration services, this is far from easy.

When a Nepalese insurgency threatens the blossoming romance between Sai and her handsome tutor, they, too, are forced to consider their colliding interests. The judge must revisit his past, his own journey and his role in this grasping world of conflicting desires - every moment holding out the possibility for hope or betrayal.

This is the first time that Hamish Hamilton has published a Man Booker Prize winner although they had two shortlisted authors in 2005.

    Hermione Lee comments,

“We are delighted to announce that the winner of the Man Booker Prize for 2006 is Kiran Desai’s The Inheritance of Loss, a magnificent novel of humane breadth and wisdom, comic tenderness and powerful political acuteness. The winner was chosen, after a long, passionate and generous debate, from a shortlist of five other strong and original voices.”

Over and above her prize of £50,000, Kiran Desai is guaranteed a huge increase in sales and recognition worldwide. Each of the six shortlisted authors, including the winner, receives £2,500 and a designer-bound edition of their book.

The judging panel for the 2006 Man Booker Prize for Fiction is: Hermione Lee (Chair), biographer, academic and reviewer; Simon Armitage, poet and novelist; Candia McWilliam, award-winning novelist; critic Anthony Quinn; and actor Fiona Shaw.

‘Kiran Desai is a terrific writer. This book richly fulfils the promise of her first.’ - Salman Rushdie

Kiran Desai was born in India in 1971, and was educated in India, in England, and the United States. Kiran studied creative writing at Columbia University.
For further information or interview requests, please contact: Amelia Fairney, Hamish Hamilton on 020 7010 3247; Amelia.fairney@uk.penguingroup.com.

The youngest ever winner of the Booker Prize is my fellow Nigerian Ben Okri (see below) who landed the Booker in 1991 at the age of 32.

The Untold Love Life Of A Bodyguard of Prophet Muhammad

I saw Aishah Bint Talha without her veil.

"Unveil Me My Love" is the love story of one of the captains of Prophet Muhammad in Arabia. He was loved by the leading ladies of Islam whilst he was in love with Aisha bint Abu bakr the beloved youngest wife of the prophet. But he later gave up his quest for Aisha and returned to his homeland Abyssinia where he abandoned Islam and became a Christian.

This is perhaps the first historical romance written by an African on the last days of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

I won't say anything more until you read it first and you tell me what you think.

The Next Nigerian Writer Who Should Win The Nobel Prize

    Ben Okri

Prof.Wole Soyinka won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1986 and no other Nigerian writer has has won it to date.

Chinua Achebe would have won it. But after writing only two great novels Things Fall Apart and Arrow of God he seemed to have been held back by the Law of Diminishing Returns. Because his other novels failed to measure up to the genius that wrote the two great novels he even wrote when he was a young man under 30. But as he grew older his genius seemed to have been overwhelmed by the challenges of modern developments.

Another gifted Nigerian novelist who have lagged behind is Kole Omotosho who is now based in South Africa and now more famous as a TV commercial model than as a novelist. What an irony.

The Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk just won the 2006 Nobel Prize for Literature and I won't say he does not deserve it. But one African I know who deserves to be given the Nobel Prize, is Ngugi Wa Thiong'o.

The new crop of dynamic Nigerian novelists from Ben Okri to Chris Abani have been winning laurels and Ben Okri is the next Nigerian writer who should win the Nobel Prize one fine day. He has already won the higly coveted Booker Prize

    Unveil Me, My Love

    By Orikinla Osinachi

This is a fictional love story based on the last days of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and all the quotations from the Hadith are correct.
It does not contain any profanity or any distortion of the Hadith.
All the references to the Prophet are based on historical facts from the research of the author.

The Transition of the Prophet (pbuh)

60 days after his last Hajj the prophet became very ill. And he knew that the time had come for him to pass on. He prophesied words of blessings on our anointed martyrs of Uhud. I still remembered his sacred farewell message.
“There is a slave among the slaves of Allah (The One God) to whom God has offered the choice between this world and that which is with Him, and the slave has chosen that which is with God.”
I hung on his ears as he continued his solemn sermon with so much radiance on his face.
“I warn you O Muslims to be good to the Ansar (the Helpers, i.e., those residents of Medina who helped the Emigrants from Mecca). They have performed their duty well. Muslims will increase in number but Ansar will dwindle and be as salt in a meal.”
I was one of his devotees and rear guards in his last jihad. I loved him. And he confided some secrets in me. The cause of his illness that only Aishah (ra) and I knew.
“Woe to the nations before you who worshiped the tombs of their prophets. I forbid you to do that. O people, the most unselfish of men to me in his companionship is Abu Bakr, and if I were to take from mankind an inseparable friend he would be Abu Bakr - but the brotherhood of faith is ours until God unite us in His presence. O my dear daughter Fatimah and O my dear aunt Safiyah, spend your efforts in the way of the hereafter for I will not be able to help you against the Will of Allah. I go before you and I am your witness. Your meeting with me is at the pool of the celestial river Kawthar. I fear not for you that you will set up gods beside Allah, but I fear for you that you will rival one another in worldly gains.”

The prophet then anointed Abu Bakr to continue his messages. He retired to his inner chambers where his beloved wife Aishah nursed him with his bald head on her bosom. And she soon made him to regain his strength that at the break of dawn of twelfth of Rabi’ al-Awwal, he was even able to join us in the mosque. But he had to lean on Fadl and Thawban. When Abu Bakr saw the prophet, he quietly stepped back even without moving his head. But the last prophet of Allah/الله patted him on his shoulder and nodded that Abu Bakr should continue. Abu Bakr often glanced at the prophet who was sitting at his right hand side praying in solitude.

We were all in elated spirits to see him looking hale and hearty in spite of his protracted illness. Anas (ra) turned to me and smiled with glee.
“I have never seen the Prophet’s face more beautiful than as I see it now at this moment,” he said joyfully.
I nodded and as I looked to see the cheerful faces of the other devotees, my eyes and the eyes of Aishah met and I quickly averted my eyes lest I would be caught ogling at the most beloved wife of the prophet. Then I saw him whisper into the ear of Aishah.

The prophet adored her deeply as he said, “The superiority of 'Aishah to other ladies is like the superiority of Tharid (i.e. meat and bread dish) to other meals. Many men reached the level of perfection, but no woman reached such a level except Mary, the daughter of Imran and Asia, the wife of Pharaoh."
We also knew that she was the muse of the Wahy (Divine Revelations)

Later Sunniyah told me that Aishah disclosed to her what he whispered into her ear.
“No Prophet is taken by death until he has been shown his place in Paradise and then offered the choice to live or to die.”

The prophet never recovered. Anas later disclosed his last words to me.
“With the supreme communion in Paradise, with those upon whom God has showered his favor, the prophets and the saints and the martyrs and the righteous, most excellent for communion are they.”
Anas said he raised his head and said, “O Allah, with the supreme communion.” The prophet gave up at the dusk of the twelfth of Rabi’ al-Awwal, which the followers of the sacred cross recorded as June 8, 632 A.D. Sunniyah told me that he died with his head resting on the laps of his beloved Aishah.
He was only sixty-three years old. There was an unconfirmed rumour that his Jewish wife poisoned him. But we were warned that this rumour must never be breathed out by any soul. Could the poison have taken the precious life of the prophet?

Abu Bakr wept as he came to the mosque and looking up at us as we stood in disbelief, he sighed and exclaimed:
“O People! If Muhammad is the sole object of your adoration, then know that he is dead. But if it is Allah (The One God) you Worshiped, then know that He does not die.”

Then Abu Bakr proclaimed an invocation from the Qur'an, 3:144:
“Muhammad is no more than an Apostle: many were the Apostles that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will you then turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude.”
The verse was actually a divine revelation he received after the Battle of Uhud.
We buried the prophet the following day in the same place he died in Aishah’s bedroom as he had told Abu Bakr that “Allah does not cause a prophet to die but in the place where he is to be buried.”

All his children had died before him, except Fatimah (ra). But unfortunately she also died six full moons after the prophet. But Aishah and his other wives, the Ummul Momineen (mothers of the faithful) survived and lived as pious widows until they passed away. But of all his numerous wives only Khadijah and Maria al-Qibtiyya bore him children. Aishah did not have any child for the prophet. We all wondered why?

Aishah was once suspected of committing adultery whilst on a journey in the caravan escorted by Shafwan ibn Muatthal. This was after the prophet married Maria al-Qibtiyya. But the rumour only circulated in whispers among the sheiks of Arabia. But the prophet only queried her and never summoned any man suspected to have dared to even attempt such an abominable act and be beheaded. It was a scandal that would have cost Aishah her life. Aishah maintained her innocence that she lost her necklace and whilst looking for it, she was left behind by the caravan until she was able to find her way back to Medina. Sunniyah told me that Aishah later said the prophet told her that he had a revelation that four witnesses would be required to convict her of adultery. And her conviction would mean her death by stoning. What the prophet would not even think of. Condemning and sentencing her most beloved and youngest wife to death! God forbid.

Since the prophet was dead, I felt some emptiness in my heart and soul and I made up my mind to return home to Abyssinia. And I wanted to persih the thought of any future with Aishah. The father now seemed to have more need of her divine gifts in the absence of the prophet. I also feared that the caliph would never allow an Abyssinian to marry his beloved Aishah.

    The Three Maidens In White

I was feverish for some days and I was seeing and hearing things as my body shook and it was as if I was no longer on earth. I was used to these fevers. I always fell ill once in a year and I would be rejuvenated afterwards. I took my usual medicine made from bitter herbs prepared by Sunniyah.
“May be you are homesick,” she said.
I did not reply. I only nodded.
I have spent over ten years in the service of the prophet and survived many battles. And I have been even more comfortable here than my years at home. But I was missing my mother. Again, I was discovering certain things and the parchment I received in my last pilgrimage to Jerusalem was now like my talisman. And even the prophet did not deny the truth. That it was the Jews who told him about Allaha whom they called Allah. We all agreed that "He is the one and only supreme God and the maker of all things visible and invisible in heaven and on earth". But, I wanted to return to Jerusalem and ask more questions on how the sacred word of God could become flesh and was the Jew Prophet Isa the only begotten Son of God? Because, the Qur'an said this was not so. Why? Only the truth would satisfy my yawning soul.

It was about the eleventh hour of the Jummah when I was half asleep. Sunniyah was not with me. Then I saw smoke rising from the floor and soon the smoke enveloped the room. I was wondering what could be the meaning of this. Then I saw them. They were all in white. They looked like the minstrels of Wahy (Divine Revelations). Three of them coming from a mosque and I saw other buildings behind them.
Then suddenly I did not see them again. I closed my eyes and when I opened them Sunniyah had come with some fruits for me.
“You were hallucinating again,” she said.
    “I had a vision,” I said.
She was washing the fruits and only glanced at me.
“Yes. These fevers come with such hallucinations and visions. Don’t worry Hassan, you will soon be on your feet and dancing with me.”
“You are not the only one who can see things,” I said and closed my eyes again. Because I was feeling like I should go back to sleep.
“All right. We all have dreams and visions. My dear brother, what did you see?”
“I saw three maidens in white in a mist of smoke.”
“Where? I hope Satan has not urinated in your ears while you were sleeping?”
    “Allah forbids it!” I prayed.
She stopped what she was doing and came closer to where I lay on my mat.
“Right here while you were not here. When I was half awake.”
    “The three daughters of Nasibin”
    “You know them?”
“Yes. They only appear to you when you are ready to…”
“I am not ready to die now.”
She laughed and her voice rang in my ears.
“Oh, no Hassan! You are not about to die. They are not the jinns of Shayatin. But when they appear to young men, they mean well.”
    “And what does it mean?”
“That your bride is coming soon!”
Sunniyah smiled and brought me three fruits in a bowl. She offered me one and I accepted it. “Eat my brother. The apple will revive you,” she said.
“But, I don’t want to marry here,” I said.
    “Why?” She asked.
“I prefer one of our own maidens in Abyssinia,” I replied.
“Arabian women are the loveliest of all women in the world,” she sang.
She rose to her feet and danced for a moment.
Yes. She was lovely. Yes, very lovely. But she said she would never marry and loved her calling as a stargazer. But I knew she was the comforter of some men in Arabia.
“Your mother would be happy to be the mother in-law of a beautiful Arabian princess,” she said.
I sighed and we were silent for a while.
“The sun is going home and I must return before darkness covers my path,” she said.
“I wish I could escort you,” I said.
“Trouble not yourself. You need to rest until you are fully revived. “
She held my hands for a while and murmured her usual inaudible prayer.
“You will sleep well tonight my brother.”
As she left, I felt like the loneliest man on earth.
I decided to write some of the words from my heart on a parchment.

It was after the victory of Hunayn, that the prophet and I went up the Thubayr and Hira for fasting and praying. Most he often left me on Thubayr and would go to the Hira alone whilst I waited for him. Then during one our retreats, he declared,
‘Shall I tell you, O people, on whom the shaitans descend? They descend on every slandering sinner. Those who listen to hearsay - and most of them are liars - and those poets who are followed by those who go astray.”
I was wondering why he said that when he welcomed and appreciated the verses of HassAn ibn Thabit, a poet of Yathrib. And HasAn always recited poems in the praise of the prophet and Aishah. Well, I wouldn’t be the one to dispute the revelation of the messenger of Allah.

After our victories at the battles of Badr, Uhud and Khaybar , many people were killed, including male and female poets. And I knew those that were killed on the orders of the prophet. But he spared the poets who sang his praises. So, I kept my verses to myself. I would be safer if no one knew I could recite my own verses and I wouldn’t flatter anyone. Hypocrisy could choke me, so I wouldn’t sing the praises of the prophet without saying the truth as well. And I was not ready to dare the wrath of the prophet whom I vowed to serve till death separated us.

The Unveiling of Rekiyyah bint Abu bakr (ra)

One cold night, I was sitting alone in front of my tent under the half moon when I saw a hooded figure on the white mule of the prophet that was a precious gift from Muqawqis I was wondering who could be this strange visitor.
Then as the figure came closer, I recognized that it was a female figure in a burqa.
Then the unmistakable velvet voice of Rekiyyah bint Abu Bakr (ra) greeted me.
    “Salam Alaikum.”
    “Wa alaikum salam, sister.”
I was gaping and gasping in awe. Why would I to be honoured by such a highly revered visitor?
    “Alhamdulillaah!” I exclaimed inwardly.
I hurriedly took her by her slim hands into my tent. I did not want anyone to see her.

Rekiyyah was the daughter of the caliph!

I Am Going To See Jack Straw

    Muslim Child: Mama?
    Muslim Mother: Yes, my baby.
Muslim Child: Why are covering your face?
Muslim Mother: Because, Muslim women must cover their faces whenever they are going out. (inwardly:you bully daddy does not want other men to find me attractive and snatch me from his terrorist hands. Hiss)
    Muslim Child: Hmm.
    Muslim Mother: Hmm what?
Muslim Child: I thought you were a masquerade for a costume party!
Muslim Mother: I Am Going To See Jack Straw! He must tell me if my baby is not scared of my veil, then why should he? Is he Chicken?

    When the Honeymoon is Over

I am sitting here on the wc seat thinking aloud.
I have no father and I have no mother.
    They are dead. Long dead.
And I am not married and no child.
No. I am not scared of marriage.
I love women as I loved my mother.
May her peaceful soul rest in peace.
She was one of a kind. My own Mother Theresa.
Women are not the problems in this world.
Of course the devil is not a woman.
    Jezebel was a woman?
Because King Ahab was a coward and a fool and he was not man enough to discipline the stubborn wife.
This is not why I am still here in the closet.
But, I am bothered by so many existential issues that we often misunderstand and that is why I want to pass them out. And I have a deodorant here just in case it begins to stink.
My festering thorns are pricking my heart and soul.
I am speaking from the closet of my heart.
Just reason with me for a moment, please.

The intimate confessions continue in my latest short narrative, Sorry, My Name Is Not Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

Fall In Love With An Indian Beauty

I fell in love with India at the first sight of an Indian beauty in an Indian film at the Kings Cinema on Lagos Island in Nigeria. My handsome father Sunday Eke always took the whole family to the cinema to watch the latest Indian film or Western and I grew up seeing the famous film stars as my role models. And my pet names were Ricky Nelson from the Western Cowboy films and Amitabh Bachchan of the Bollywood fame. I was walking tall with the swagger of these film stars and the girls loved it. And I am still walking tall today and the girls and ladies are still loving the mystique that makes me so unique.

I have a beautiful Nigerian friend whose grandfather came from Mumbai, and she wants us to go to India and find out any of her ancestral relations.
She is only a friend. So, she cannot stop me from courting any Indian beauty I find in the course of our quest.

Indian maidens are awesome! Mysterious beauties with charming eyes full of secrets of their hearts and souls. And I want to fall in love with an Indian beauty.

    Naked Beauty

A young Nigerian artist goes to an Island and discovers a village maiden who proves that there is more to her beauty than her nudity.

Naked Beauty explores the intellectual abilities in relationship with the sexual instincts of a young man and a younger woman. But Naked Beauty is more than meets the eye of the beholder.

    About Naked Beauty

Naked Beauty is a metaphor of the unappreciated natural beauty of the humanity of the Niger Delta region of Nigeria that produces the oil that is the mainstay of the Nigerian economy.

The Niger Delta region of Nigeria is known as the most dangerous region in Nigeria as many foreign oil workers have been kidnapped and some have been killed by the native militant youths terrorizing the multinational oil companies operating in the Niger Delta. And over 1,000 villagers have been killed in catastrophic explosions caused oil spillages and leakages of oil pipelines and thousands more have been killed in bloody conflicts over the ownership of oil produced from the Niger Delta. The greed for oil has made the majority of the people to be ignorant of the abundant human resources in the Niger Delta, so that they have abandoned farming and fishing to vandalize oil pipelines or to work in marginal oil fields. And the over dependence on mineral resources have deprived them of the full realization of the enormous benefits of their human resources. Naked Beauty is meant to enlighten them and prod them to appreciate and celebrate the beauty of their human resources.

The story shows a young Nigerian Tonye from the Niger Delta region in his quest for the aesthetics of life and soon discovers the natural beauty of the Niger Delta personified by a village maiden Oma on Bonny Island and he decides to show what he has discovered to the whole world. Oma symbolizes the beauty of the Niger Delta that the rest of the world does not know much about. And he brings out the hidden treasures of the Niger Delta in contrast to the greed for oil as he diverts the attention of others from the leaking oil pipeline and chooses to celebrate the virgin beauty of Oma and her people who live on fishing.

The greed for oil leads to the quarrel over who has more rights to steal from the leaking oil pipeline and as expected the volatile quarrel causes the catastrophic oil pipeline explosion that killed many of the greedy villagers and destroyed the village. But Oma and her family survive to symbolize that the hope of the Niger Delta is on the appreciation and celebration of the natural beauty of her people and their arts and culture.

For the full story already written in a published screenplay co-authored by the prize winning Nigerian writer Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima and prize winning Nollywood Filmmaker Chika Christian Onu of the Glamour Girls fame, see Naked Beauty.

    Emma Jean Reborn

    Emma Jean Reborn

by Dr. Cupid Poe and Kathi Macias
    Publisher: Authorhouse
    Category: Self-Help
Reviewed by D.S. White of Read Zone Book Reviews.

"She paused again, then plunged ahead. "I guess what I'm trying to say is that, no matter what's happened in our lives, there's nothing so bad that God can't carry us through to the other side. The Bible says that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Sooner or later, God's good plan for our lives will become clear to us, Emma Jean, if we'll just let it.

Emma Jean was fighting tears now, wishing on the one hand that she'd declined Millie's invitation an d gone on back to her apartment where she'd be safe from such emotional revelations, while wishing on the other that she had the courage to open her mouth and tell this dear woman everything that was on her heart. In the end she said nothing, except a silent thank you to God, as the unspoken question echoed in her heart: How many people would He send to her to give her the same message before she finally got it?" - Pg 74.

I approach the writing of this review with unwanted credentials: that of a survivor of abuse. However, it is those very credentials that give me the authority to wholeheartedly recommend this book for those who’d like to:

    - understand the face of abuse, or
    - move forward from the road called Abuse.

It goes without saying; it was not an easy read for me, not because of poor workmanship, irrelevant content or shoddy grammar. No, it was excellent in all those aspects. Being a bit of an ostrich I delayed and stalled reading the book because I was simply unwilling to “go there” again.

I can now say that it’s the best book I never-wanted-to-read because at the end of the day I applauded Emma Jean’s courage and unfailing spirit, even as I cried when she cried and triumphed when she did and was encouraged to give moving forward a chance, as she also did. She overcame so much to reach a state of peace: that of her family’s financial situation, their bigoted beliefs, their dysfunction, their rejection of who she was as a person, her life threatening situations…

Even though the book encompasses subject matter that is uncomfortable reading for most, the authors pull it off with a mix of sensitivity, spirituality and practicality that:

    - Empathizes
    - Motivates
    - Moves
    - Advocates
    - Justifies
    - Encourages
    - Authenticates
    - Nullifies

    - Resuscitates
    - Educates
    - Believes
    - Opposes
    - Rejuvenates
    - Nurtures

But most of all it is a clear-cut roadmap directing abuse survivors towards the healing road called Forgiveness. I have heard it said that “forgiveness is a gift you give yourself,” and I wholeheartedly agree.

    Rating:

    5 out of 5 stars

    Recommendation:

    I recommend this title for:

    - those wrapped so tightly in their anger they’re blinded by it to all the
    goodness around them.
    - those so mired in memory of the hurt, they can’t live in the here and now,
    - those so walled into a pattern of behavior that they’re afraid to come out of their comfort zone because although painful, it’s all they know,
    - those who blame God for allowing their situation; and
    - those who desire the encouragement needed to transition from victim to victor.

Believe His Word And You Shall Overcome

As long as you believe in the Word of God, you will succeed.
For there is ultimate power in His word to overcome all the evils and enemies in the world.

    Psalm 40
    1. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

    2. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

    3. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

    4. Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

    5. Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

    6. Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

    7. Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

    8. I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

    9. I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

    10. I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

    11. Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

    12. For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

    13. Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

    14. Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

    15. Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

    16. Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

    17. But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

Psalm 40 (Holy Bible, King James Version)

    Seun,
Believe it or not, I live on writing and producing drama.
But I am not a prize writer.

I cannot post all my stories online gratis.
How will I feed and pay my bills?

See Even The Dog Believes In God And Prays

See how the innocent dog joins the innocent child to pray.
    How about you?

    1. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Wizard of the Crow Is A Must Read

I have fallen in love with the first class prose of Ngugi wa'Thiongo since I read his now classic novel The River Between in high school and his highly political novel Petals of Blood motivated me to do a unique painting of the same title in red Japanese ink.

    Ngugi wa'Thiongo's latest novel
Wizard of the Crow is already being celebrated as a classic historical fiction on the agonies and ironies of post-colonial Africa and
Wizard of the Crow is the longest book in an African language after the Holy Bible. It is a must read.

A Psalm For The Lesson of 9/11

    Psalm 49
For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm.

    1 Hear this, all you peoples;
listen, all who live in this world,
    2 both low and high,
    rich and poor alike:
    3 My mouth will speak words of wisdom;
the utterance from my heart will give understanding.
    4 I will turn my ear to a proverb;
with the harp I will expound my riddle:
5 Why should I fear when evil days come,
    when wicked deceivers surround me-
6 those who trust in their wealth
and boast of their great riches?
7 No man can redeem the life of another
or give to God a ransom for him-
8 the ransom for a life is costly,
    no payment is ever enough-
9 that he should live on forever
    and not see decay.
    10 For all can see that wise men die;
the foolish and the senseless alike perish
and leave their wealth to others.
11 Their tombs will remain their houses [a] forever,
    their dwellings for endless generations,
though they had [b] named lands after themselves.
    12 But man, despite his riches, does not endure;
he is [c] like the beasts that perish.
13 This is the fate of those who trust in themselves,
and of their followers, who approve their sayings.
    Selah
14 Like sheep they are destined for the grave, [d]
and death will feed on them.
    The upright will rule over them in the morning;
their forms will decay in the grave, [e]
    far from their princely mansions.
    15 But God will redeem my life [f] from the grave;
he will surely take me to himself.
    Selah
16 Do not be overawed when a man grows rich,
    when the splendor of his house increases;
17 for he will take nothing with him when he dies,
his splendor will not descend with him.
18 Though while he lived he counted himself blessed—
and men praise you when you prosper-
19 he will join the generation of his fathers,
who will never see the light of life .
20 A man who has riches without understanding
is like the beasts that perish.

    BiBi Cambridge: High Grade Heroine

I have just discovered another of the very few highly gifted beauties with brains in the expanding blogosphere, BiBi Cambridge whose passions are similar to mine. Romantic writers and lovers of life, heart, spirit and soul.

Bibi Cambridge writes songs for a living. Pop songs. She also sings them sometimes, and there’s an unsubstantiated rumour that she has the voice of an angel. An angel on crack with a flick-knife, but an angel nonetheless.

Bibi Cambridge spends a couple of days a week working in an office, which is, she says, ok because ‘there’s a gun in my bag’.

    Bibi Cambridge is gorgeous.

Bibi is single. And proud of it. Though there is ‘Mr Healing Hands’ who seems to occasionally pop up from time to time. But he managed to put her in hospital with a massage, so clearly he can’t be trusted.

Bibi Cambridge’s blog is a well-stirred stew of ideas, observations, impressions on contemporary life in London, annoying friends, romantic catastrophes, gay friends and their ‘unique’ take on the female form, the impossibility of finding a future that can compete with the past. Oh, and the first time she farted in front of her favourite lover. There’s even a very cute pet dog in there somewhere, too.

Bibi Cambridge – a pretty girl with searing insight.

    Power Belongs To God

God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.
~~ Psalm 62:11 (King James Version)

I cannot resist the passion to share the following message sent to me by one of the most determined bold and beautiful young women I have ever known since I was born, Joy Tongo. God just brought her into my life like an angel from the blues and I am glad and grateful to God for having such a blessed God fearing young lady to be my partner in progress.

Financial Prosperity by Pastor Creflo Dollar.

Financial prosperity starts with the word.
You can have nothing if you not willing to have it.

Claim this: Let the Lord be Magnified, who has pleasure in my prosperity.

Activity that produce motions with no progress is bad.
Proverb chapter 23:4: Don't labor at been rich.
Laboring to be rich, is laboring at the wrong direction.
Spend your time in the word, let your labor be in the
word...confessing, acting, meditating, praying in the word.

How the Word of God and Wealth relate...
    Hebrews chapter 1:3,11:3.
The word of God is the frame word on which all other things hang. The depth of God's word determine your prosperity.

Lot of us love to prosper, but don't love the word.
Isaiah 65:23: My labor in God's word will not be in vain. It would only empower you but your children.

How does God bless us to financially prosper?
The word of God is the high way to the world of wealth.
Don't expect to have financial increase if you are not operating in God's
word. If you get in God's word with PHD, you will prosper.

Release creative ability out of your mouth.
There is no way you sit on God's word and He will not release all the secrets, formula and business idea.
The word of God is the door that lead to a word from God. It might be in the rest room, driving, anywhere God speaks to you on something that will lead to financially prosperity.
"A word from Him, will cause an elevation."
Wisdom will come, concepts will come, idea, invention and all, because you will be meditating in God's word.

"Breakthrough would not come until you get a word from God."
    See Job 22:21
Let be Almighty be your God, even when the stuffs comes in your hand, don't forget the one that gave it to you.
    Psalm 112:1
Some of us need to have a flash-back before we hook up on God, how He took us out of that mess, how we lost our job and He gave us another one.
Learn how to praise God, so you can hear from him in your situation. Because if God did it once, He will do it again.

Claim this: Wealth and Riches shall be in my house.
    See Isaiah 60:1
Nothing shines without light. That light "psalm 119:130" is the entrance of that word.
    Luke 4:18
    Matt 11:4
Prosperity is preached, you don't pray it, you don't fat, you preach.
Proverb 24:13...The prosperity of your soul must be first base, because it determines you overall.
You don't succeed, not because your lack luck but LIGHT.
    Matthew 13:54
    Proverb 8:10-11 is very important.

    10. Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

    11. For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
~~ Proverbs 8:10-11 (King James Version)

    Luke 8:11
Faith without corresponding action is dead.
Money is the corresponding action to any seed your sow. Because money represent time. You have to put the word on your action. The word of God is the seed, and not money.

Give and it shall be given unto you. For with what measure you meet with
all, shall be measured back to you.

The Coming of the Last Prophet

He has fled from the chaos of the accursed of the world
He has come to take refuge in the valley of the lilies
He has found peace among the sheep.

He alone understands their strange tongues. And he has seen more wisdom among his flock than among the children of the world. They surround him as he sits on a rock by the hot spring in the valley where they always come to graze. And they are really glad to have a shepherd they have been praying for all these years since they also fled from the bloodshed in the world.

    Talking To My Conscience
Humans are the most pathetic creatures on earth posing and posturing to be civilized but the horrors of their king of terrors betray their claim to superior intelligence over the sheep and goats they call dumb.
Sheep don’t cheat or exploit and they neither steal nor kill other sheep.
    Goats don’t enslave other goats.
    Dogs don’t have suicide bombers.

I have seen better parenting among animals than I have seen among humans.
The prevailing human conflicts plaguing humankind today can be traced to bad parenting. Because most parents failed to guide and guard their children in accordance with the rules of engagement for peaceful co-habitation on earth.

Racism, tribalism, sectarianism, nepotism, extremism, terrorism and other horrible and terrible acts of Man’s inhumanity to man are caused by erroneous and ambiguous notions of the struggle for survival and well-being.

Majority of humans are ignorant of the truth and the rest are too arrogant to accept the truth.

I cannot imagine myself cheating or exploiting my fellow humans and I cannot imagine myself stealing or killing my fellow humans.

Greediness, stubbornness and wickedness are destroying humankind. And the perpetrators of these evils are unrepentant.

Again, most humans are hypocrites, parasites and prostitutes.

Sincerely, I feel terribly insulted to compare myself to those who commit such atrocities of Man’s inhumanity to man.

Millions of humans cheat, exploit, lie, rob, steal, usurp and kill their fellow humans with fake looks and fake books and by hook or by crook.

The thing I am guilty of is I love women. But I don’t covet another man’s wife. And my greatest passion is charity.

It would be better and safer to live among sheep and goats than to live among humans.

(From my next book The Last Prophet.)

It is for classical music. It has been published in Scarlet Tears of London and the classical CD will be ready for Christmas.

    Your Majesty

    Your Majesty
    Lord Almighty
    Supreme Authority.

    Hallelujah!

    All glory, honour and power
    Belong to you.
    King of Kings
    And Lord of Lords.

    You reign
    Yes you reign
    Jesus Christ you reign
    You reign forever and ever!

    Who Is Fooling Whom?

Beggars or Paupers and Racists or Terrorists

Let me state clearly that giving alms to beggars is not charity.
True charity is when you help the beggar to stop being a beggar and become a worker earning a living and also contributing to the social and economic development of his or her community or society.

The hypocrisy of feeling good when you give alms to beggars on the street is all bullshit and rubbish when you fail to change the beggar and alleviate his poverty.

If I see a beggar, I will ask him why he is begging and what can I do to help him so that he does not need to beg again. Like giving the beggar a seed grant to have a means of earning some money or capital for the survival and welfare.

As far as I am concerened it is wickedness if you are rich and you know a beggar at the corner of your street and you keep on giving him alms everyday without addressing his problem to change his miserable condition. If you give him enough money to start a lucrative trade or give him means of employment and later you see him begging again, please get him arrested for he is not a beggar but a fraudulent crook and rogue. Because begging can be a sort of chicanery.

There is too much hypocrisy in the world. And the most annoying is White Hypocrisy which is even worse than racism. Because these white hypocrites in the Republican Party and the rest of America are even worse than the KKK or white supremacists. And I am going to wage war against these White hypocrites who pretend not to be racists in the open, but they are indeed racists in their hearts and souls. Racism is as evil as terrorism. There is nothing different from the White racist and the Islamic terrorist. So, it is sheer hypocrisy to see White racists in America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa condemning Osama bin Laden and the other Islamic terrorists. Because they are both evil and the same agents of the devil their master.

    Whosoever does evil
    Is of the devil.

The white racists in America have forgotten how they attacked and murdered thousands of innocent black people and now they are condemning Osama bin Laden and his devils?

    Racism and terrorism are twin-evils.

Poverty can provoke the poor man to become a terrorist.
An armed robber is a terrorist.
    Every criminal is a terrorist.

Why did Osama bin Laden dodge from becoming a suicide bomber?
But he encourages thousands of other muslims to become suicide bombers.
Leadership is by example, let Osama bin Laden become a suicide bomber and die in their next suicidal terrorist bomb attacks.

    Who is fooling whom?

Anyone who disagrees with me is an ignorant fool. And a moron.

It is impossible to defeat an ignorant man in argument.
